FADS - 1960s-80s is the time the baby-boomers (read: our parents) are at their prime. Sending them birthday, or father/mother's day cards with this theme will make them nostalgic. Hippies, the Beatles, space conquest, rock n roll, bell bottoms, mini-skirts, big hair, disco, YMCA, etc (whatever they talk about the most) will make them think back about their youth and put a smile on their face. For younger people(born in 1980s), we can make cards about things like cartoons (transformer, ninja turtle, baja hitam), video games, walkman, guli, zero-point, batu seremban, going to the dentist's room in school, projek susu, michael jackson, etc

To Jay,

Sorry, I forgot Foldees reaches to the whole world. By appealing to the masses I meant Malaysian. Everything I said is in Malaysian context. I admit that I lack originality and creativity, so I can't really imagine what can be done with some suggestions here. Other people can, but not me. That's why I'm not a designer. And also some suggestions have so little description, so I don't understand what they want, that's why I suggest working with the designers.

And to Chak,

Can you do Chinese cards or other languages? Like I mentioned in my previous post, Chinese-educated people (or Chinese-speaking world) will probably not understand American slang and pop-culture references in many cards designed here. If you're looking for a broader market, that is. Just a suggestion. Thanks!!

heya paddy,

we might consider it for next year, if things go exceedingly well. The thing is, each contest is a significant investment for us, and we need to ensure that the returns are potentially there. Our plan is to eventually have seperate portals for major languages around the world like .es, .cn, .in, .jp, .kr and so forth. Wish us luck!

I think different languages would be a really great idea! I mean, I am US and only speak English so I would continue on my merry way whether you put another language on there or not, but as far as world wide appeal goes, I think its a great idea. Even if you leave the card designs the same and have different languages thrown in as options. Like a "see this card in Chinese" button and it would switch to the same card only with the language changed. Even if it is only on some cards. Like the bunny in the moon card, I didn't get the cultural reference because I live in the US, but that would be a good card to have available in the language where it has cultural references.
