I'm supporting the underdogs! I like Foodies, Fairy Tales, Street Art and Fads. These are the ones I feel can appeal to the masses (which means I can send to grandma, grandpa, uncle, aunty, father, mother, friends who live under a rock, friends who are Chinese-educated (I'm Chinese-educated, but I see Chinese-educated and English/Malay-educated people seem to come from different worlds. We have different taste in humor, fashion, etc... I don't understand half the pop culture references... here... ), etc.)

Other ideas are good, too. I just think that it's harder for the designers to come up with good cards from them. Unless if the person who proposed the idea works with the card designers?

god, i don't know where to start in response to that last post...
how about "These are the ones I feel can appeal to the masses." why so narrow minded? is the internet only available in Malaysia?

we have a global population of 6.77 BILLION people. the Malaysian population is roughly 27.7 million.
That means Malaysians make up 0.4% [Zero point Four perecent] of the global population. does that sound like a mass percentage to you? i think not.

Unless, when you mention "Chinese-educated", you are referring to the entire Han Chinese ethnic group? they represent a whopping 19.73% of the global population.

there's definitely mass appeal there.

But wait! only a miniscule fraction of that Han population can read or write in Roman script. So how can they buy cards from Foldees if they don't know what it means?

ayo, there's all kinds of contradictions going on here.

IT'S A COMPETITION!! It's not supposed to just be easy...it's a CHALLENGE against other competitors for goodness sake. when did "lazy" substitute "kiasu" in the malaysian ethos? ...oh wait, don't answer that.

that's hilarious. as if designers, by default are not creative enough to 'design' something, to a brief, with a whole host of visual references?

it makes me weep to read this, it really does. i can't decide whether this denotes laziness, lack of originality, lack of initiative, or just plain old stupidity.
to all the designers out there - if you can't think of one design to match a theme, then you ought to be ashamed of yourselves. go reflect on your life choices and perhaps become an accountant instead.

jay, please watch what you say here otherwise I might have to delete your posts. Be respectful of others opinions, and if you have a criticism, do it in a polite, and non-condescending manner.

Also, with regards to the contest, we might still proceed with one of the other themes if we feel the votes are not reflective or representative of what the majority of our designers really want.
